Enjoy a better life and brighter future through kidney disease treatment and research in San Antonio and South Texas
JESSICA L. PIERCE, M.D., PH.D.
I am originally from Massachusetts but moved to Texas for graduate school, completing an advanced degree in biochemistry and then doing a fellowship in human genetics. During my scientific training, I became intrigued with medicine and returned to school for a medical doctorate and then trained in internal medicine and nephrology. I joined Renal Associates in 2007 and since 2012, I have also spent part of my clinical time working as a transplant nephrologist for the University Transplant Institute. I feel my scientific training prepared me well for the intellectual aspects of nephrology but my greatest satisfaction has come from developing long term relationships with patients and their families. Medicine has become increasing complex but I enjoy the challenge of helping patients learn about their health and make the best choices.
