Enjoy a better life and brighter future through kidney disease treatment and research in San Antonio and South Texas

Dr Abouzahr4

FADI ABOUZAHR, MD

I was born in Lebanon and grew up in tumultuous times in the midst of a civil war. My family relocated to France in 1978, hoping for more peaceful times. We lived in the beautiful city of Angers, home to the Tapestry of the Apocalypse and heart of the once Kingdom of France. After completing high school, I joined the University of Angers, where I obtained both my college and medical school education. In 1996, a commitment to excellence compelled me to seek further education in the United States of America. I joined Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, at the department of Molecular and Human Genetics as a Postdoctoral Fellow; a brief experience in basic sciences that has awarded me with several publications.

I completed my Internal Medicine training at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 2002, before joining the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio for my Nephrology Fellowship. I am board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology and have been in practice in the San Antonio and surrounding areas since 2004. I am fluent in Arabic, French and English. My wife, Raghda, and my two boys, Issam and Firas, are the light of my life. I enjoy sports, exercise, music and have a passion for cars. I believe primarily in human goodness and that God is more forgiving than people. I love my job and think that it is extremely rewarding and fulfilling. I strongly believe in treating my patients as family. I attribute much of my success to the memory of my father Issam (1928-2001) who dedicated his life to his family and made all the sacrifices so I could become a doctor.
