Research Experience

Research Assistant, University of Southern California. Preceptor Josephine Chu, MD. The effects of the DASH-Sodium diet on the sympathetic nervous system activation in patients with mild to moderate chronic kidney disease. In this project, we want to determine if the DASH low-sodium diet is effective in blood pressure reduction in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. In addition, we also want to determine the impact of DASH-low sodium diet on the sympathetic nervous system and baroreceptor function. The goal of this project is to recruit a total of 36 participants. Patients will stay in the research ward for two weeks at which time multiple blood pressure readings will be taken, along with measurement of muscle sympathetic nerve activity, baroreflex, cold pressor test, and lab work.

Research Assistant, Preceptor Ming Liu, M.D. Correlation of fractional flow reserve (FFR) studies with qualitative (QL) and quantitative coronary assessment (QCA) of intermediate lesions in major epicardial coronary arteries. The research is being conducted at LAC + USC Medical Center.

Research Assistant, Preceptor Ming Liu, M.D. Clinical Outcome of high risk restenosis patients treated with drug eluting coronary stents. Assisted with recording of stent size, quality, and quantity, along with complexity of coronary artery disease on angiogram. Reviewed medical history to classify patients as low versus high risk for restenosis. The research is being conducted at LAC + USC Medical Center.

Research Assistant, Preceptor Dan Gray, M.D. University of Rochester. HDRisk – Risk of concept study for accessing the interest of novel ECG technologies in the risk stratification of patients with end stage renal disease. Study will be concluded in June of 2009.
