Shadi Mourad, MD


Shadi Mourad, MD, recently joined Renal Associates and is currently serving patients in the Seguine office. He takes care of dialysis patients in the Seguine and New Braunfels hemodialysis Units. Dr. Mourad is board certified in Nephrology as well as Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree from Kaunas University of Medicine in Lithuania, where he also did postgraduate medical training. When he moved to the United States, he completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Mourad’s Nephrology fellowship was then completed at The University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia.

University of Virginia, Subinvestigator. Investigated the utility of using contrast-enhanced (microbubbles) renal ultrasound to determine regional renal blood flow and comparing it to other methods used. 2007-2008

University of Pittsburgh, Renal and Electrolyte Division, Research Assistant. Gathered and analyzed data to investigate the quality of life of patients on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis; research included sleep apnea, cognitive and mental studies. 2004

Wayne State University, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Research Assistant. Collected and analyzed data focused on the diagnosis and treatment of acute cardiac ischemia in the emergency setting; research involved disease registries such as the National Registry of Myocardial Infarction (NRMI) and participating in palliative care projects. 2002 - 2003

Kaunas University of Medicine, Resident. Participated in clinical research at the Department of Gastroenterology for an international multicenter study about the association between subclinical hypothyroidism and common bile duct stones. 2001
